The Bible
We Believe in the verbal and full inspiration by God of the original writings of both the Old and New Testaments. The Bible is the only inerrant, infallible and authoritative Word of God and is essential to the spiritual health of the church and every individual believer (Deuteronomy 8:3; Psalm 12:6; 119; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:14-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21).
God
We Believe in one God, who eternally exists in three persons – the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is equal in attributes and nature. God created everything from nothing by the power of His word and so is to be revered, worshiped, obeyed and enjoyed. He is the author of salvation loving His creation with an infinite incomprehensible love (Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4-5; John 1:1-2; John 3:16-17).
Jesus
We Believe in the deity of Jesus Christ. He was totally God while simultaneously being totally human. He was born of a virgin, sinless in His humanity and performed miracles. He came in order to show the love of God which finds its ultimate and perfect expression in His penal substitutionary death on a cross for the sins of the world. He was placed in a tomb after His death and after three days He was resurrected bodily authenticating His identity and atoning work on the cross. He ascended to the right hand of the Father from where He rules the universe. He is going to return personally in power and glory (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:14; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; Colossians 1:15-17; 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10; 1 John 2:2; Revelation 19:11-16).
Holy Spirit
We Believe in the Holy Spirit. He is actively at work in the world working primarily through the Body of Christ in order to reveal and glorify Jesus Christ. He indwells each individual believer as well as the Body of Christ corporately. All of His gifts are operational in the Body of Christ and have not ceased. Those supernatural manifestations of His presence in the Body of Christ will always be in agreement with what is taught in the Scriptures and will always bring attention to the Person and Work of Jesus Christ (John 14:16-17; 15:26; 16:13-14; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12-14).
Humanity
We Believe that humanity was created in the image and likeness of God but that through Adam’s sin all humanity has fallen and inherited a sin nature. The image of God has been significantly marred but remnants of it remain in each individual human. In our natural fallen state, each individual is alienated from God and incapable of attaining salvation through personal effort (Luke 11:13; Romans 3:9-20, 23; 5:12-19; Ephesians 2:1-3, 8-9).
Salvation
We Believe that salvation is a free gift to be received by faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is offered through the gospel which is to be offered to all without distinction. All true believers, having been justified on account of the work of Jesus on the cross and sealed by the Holy Spirit will be kept until the day of Christ (John 10:27-30; Romans 8:29-30; Ephesians 1:13-14; Philippians 1:6; Jude 1:24-25).
The Church
We Believe the church to be the Body of Christ. All believers are united by the Holy Spirit into one spiritual body with Jesus Christ as its Head. The church finds its expression through various local congregations. This unity of all believers supersedes denominational distinctions. We hold to the old saying, “In the essentials unity, in the non-essentials liberty and in all things charity.” (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 4:1-16; 1 Peter 2:4-8)
Resurrection
We Believe in the physical resurrection of both the saved and the lost. Those who are saved will be resurrected to enjoy eternal life and those who are lost will be resurrected to eternal damnation. This is a sobering reality which makes the gospel of Jesus Christ so crucial to be received by faith (Matthew 25:31-46; John 5:25-29; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 2 Thessalonians 1:9; Revelation 20).
